When Cindy wouldn't go out with me, I got some of her DNA. It wasn't difficult.
Now I have my own Cindy. I can do things to her that if I did to the real Cindy they would lock me up and throw away the key.
She's mine because I made her.The church says she doesn't have a soul. The law says that she's not a person.
I unlock the door to her room. Cindy whimpers. I don't think she'll last much longer. That's OK. I have more Cindys growing in their jars.
It's good to be a god.

Dig this. Very Twilight Zone-esque.

Like this one.
I read yours from your blog but I don’t recall this one... that’s the problem I have with reading too many short stories on the same visit - it doesn’t allow time for them to haunt me.

I find this one to be creepy as hell. Probably better suited for Pseudopod than the Drabblecast. I suppose they could go after the protagonist for breaking some cloning law.

I think it’s perfectly suited for the drabblecast, but I’m just a fan... what I do know is that I would like this story wherever I found it.
When I speculate on what “they” would do, the whispers say... they would probably commission their own Cindy clones until the public found out, then they would deny all prior knowledge of cloning while destroying any evidence which may include nuking the asteroid base where all the Cindy soldiers are slaving away. But the conspiracy would unravel when it is discovered that many of the top brass wives looked eerily similar.
But those whispers often lie. Only you can say what “they” would do.
