Keynes was dead on! The markets are controlled by “animal spirits”. His error was assuming others to be shamans as well.

Witch doctor Keynes attacked using voodoo economics.
He stole decent people's bread to kill the world's economy dead.

I'm more offended by the incompetence of their ad targeting than I am by the mere presence of ads.

And, on that note, if anyone has any ~140 characters-including-spaces, 140 word stories, or 1,140 word stories that they haven't posted or published anywhere, something called StoryHack is interested in buying one-time non-exclusive publishing rights. The money isn't huge (guy is paying out of his own pocket) and the submissions are on a sudden death overtime status (could close at any moment), but it looks legit. http://www.storyhack.com/2010/01/26/sub ... -magazine/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false

Looks like he wants it close to the aforementioned limits but not over at all or substantially under.

I'm wracking my brain for inspiration at the moment, but haven't come up with anything so I'm sharing the love.

China never forgot, nor forgave, the opium trade. So, with great glee they helped supply our OPM and gadget addictions.

You believe that if I die your torment will end. This is not the case. Wheels are in motion. Plans are being made. Trust me.

That ad popped up constantly in the "Morris and the Machine" thread. Apparently AdSense doesn't include an irony detector.

And it looked so cute, once.

We sneer at a solo lie. But joined to a pack, it ravages the sheep.
Later, when reality exacts justice, the lie won't care.

For horror fans, the construction of unintended consequences is hard to beat. Stupidity is the perfect crime.

Somewhere on the Las Vegas strip a Conan Obrien impersonator is scheming. Leno's playing in town, soon, and he's ready.

Rounded to the nearest 0.0000001, it's 100%.

Conan gets paid 17 million for not showing up to work.

Don't be narrow minded.

I've met 1000's of people. I never hurt them and even helped a few.

Or the secret could be learning what a false dichotomy is. :) Or the limitations of bromides out of context.

Nevertheless, a fine twabble.

Lighter in hand, Dan cursed as he reached into the beast’s maw, wishing he’d asked the genie for a self-igniting dragon.

:D It's the little things, isn't it?

Welcome to the forum!

And as way of annoying the ad I'm currently seeing, anyone tempted to buy into some sort of pennystock scheme should listen to this on repeat until they are about three hours past the need to participate in financial stupidity.
